This article gives an overview into the progress of fire protection
systems in railway vehicles over the last years. Additionally the
current recommendations and requirements concerning fire
protection will be pointed out. An active fire protection system
implemented in railway trains does not produce inefficient costs
but enables manufacturer to consider different solutions. The
innovative concept of active fire protection inside the trains
will be explained on several examples to show how competent
and efficient this technology is.
