"Fog nozzles" (water mist nozzles) and "Spray guns" (Water Mist branch pipes) were already being produced in 1938, and were used among other things for fire fighting. ![]() Mist nozzle(1870) |

Mobile backpacks were also manufactured for fire brigades (1938).
From the early days, various high pressure pumps already formed an important part of the F.E. Myers Bro. Co. product range (1938)
1969
The advantages of high pressure systems for fire fighting were explained in the brochure of 1969.
1974
To market its products and to gain a manufacturing centre in Europe, F.E. Myers Bro. Co. of Ohio founded Myers-Europe GmbH Germany in 1974.

LECHLER and Water Mist
1879The company Paul Lechler was founded in Stuttgart in 1879. Even then nozzles were a part of the Lechler's production programme.
1930 -1935

(Patent application from 1930)
This brochure from 1935 is an impressive illustration that the advantages and principles of water mist in fire fighting were already clearly known, and that marketing of nozzles for this purpose was well advanced.

To extinguish fuel, oil and powder fires, chemical extinguishing is not necessarily needed, since extinguishing with water mist can also produce secure and successful results. In this case the water mist is immediately vaporised above the seat of the fire and the access of oxygen for combustion is greatly reduced or completely prevented. When water mist is applied to fuel and oil fires, there is no danger of further fire spread by the water which has been added to the floating oil. The finely divided water droplets produce an intensive cooling effect, which together with the extinguishing effect offers protection from the strong heat.

1956
Water mist fire fighting products were continuously developed. The success Lechler products was already well known.

The influence of droplet size in fire fighting
The atomisation of water in the fire fighting business has itself been a well known fact for a very long time.
Decades ago, Lechler nozzles were already being used for this purpose.
However, this extinguishing procedure has only become widespread in the last few years, above all because of the favourable experience of foreign entities.
As opposed to full streams, the following stands out especially:
1. Lower water damage, since the extinguishing water is mostly evaporated.
2. Fast extinguishment, since larger amounts of heat are removed in a shorter time.
3. Possibility of fighting oil and fuel fires.
4. Reduced explosion risk in the case of powder fires.
5. No risk in the case of electrical fires, since the spray discharge works practically like an insulator.
